A small introduction about myself
Hi, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Linus Metzler and I live in a small town in Eastern Switzerland. I've been into web design and development since I was about twelve years old. After some time getting to know how web sites are made, I founded limenet.ch in 2008, my own web start-up, and started taking on client work. In case you're wondering who my first client was, it is Martin Manser – owner of our local bike shop. For the last six years, my client base has grown to all sorts of different types of clients — from the small one-woman show to medium businesses and international companies. Apart from typical web sites, I enjoy working on web apps (for example my own project management tool) and custom-made solutions, such as a geo-related tool which was being used in a scientific research around Red Lodge, MT.
To get a deeper understanding of what is behind the web, a server or anything related to computers, I am studying computer science at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. To achieve a good work–life balance, I enjoy running, mountain biking and spending time on horseback. And traveling, of course!
I can say I’m quite good at
The barebones of every web site
What makes a web site interactive
Powering the web site on the server
My previous associations
My own web start-up, focusing on web sites for small and medium businesses and custom web apps.
I was teaching a course on ‹Web Design & Development 101› for one year on the Swiss Kantonsschule/Gymnasium level.
Together with it47 (formerly apfelX), I'm working on projects with various German clients.
The ABWF is a non-profit in Montana, USA and I work there as a summer job helping out with a variety of tasks.
What I have done in my academic career
In summer 2013 I graduated from the Kantosschule Romanshorn with biology and chemistry as a major and economics and law as a minor.
I'm currently attending the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology to obtain a BSc in computer science.
